Tiki Shift Knob - pre-oil

Just showing off the grain. Here it is after a quick alcohol bath to clean off all the sanddust and check to see if there are any bad scratches. There are a few, but I'm almost done.

(Yes, I know it is horribly back-lit. I'm not expecting a DD for this shot.)

I found a metal adapter to do the join to the shift lever, but it's a bit pricey. I'm looking for other options. If anyone knows of a cheap metal adapter, please let me know. I'm not going to tap it, I'm afraid the wood will simply get too loose over time. I'm considering a rubber grommet, but I'm not sure of where I could find one of these either.
